These activities include;

  • Support the development of climate change adaptation policies and plans
  • Encourage the systematic development and joint working between climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction institutions and Focal Points in collaboration with Policy Makers and other CSOs
  • Strengthen the capacity of community based water resource management institutions and traditional council of elders

Supporting women and youth groups in Fodder Production through training them on Fodder Production, harvesting  and storage skills

The Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO) has supported KLMC to undertake a fodder production project in Tana River County. The project provided Sorghum Sudanese and Cenchrus cilliaries seeds and farm tools to 30 farmer groups to cultivate 100 acres of land in the two Counties. Tana River farmers have so far harvested over 3000 bales while Garissa have harvested 1500 bales. Some of the fodder was sold green to pastoralist and livestock traders. For example Rebai youth group have sold green fodder worth Kshs. 20,000. The Tana River groups have formed an umbrella group to help in the marketing of the fodder and management of the fodder store to be constructed by FAO.
